Hotel Cristoforo Colombo, Milan

Structural works project and related works management

The expansion of the Hotel Cristoforo Colombo, located in c.so Buenos Aires, was carried out through a recovery operation of the attic floor with the creation of an additional raised floor.

The works to create the 20 new rooms and suites were carried out while the hotel was open and functioning thanks to the use of dry technologies: load-bearing structure and external walls in wood (Wood Beton Spa), dry screeds and internal plasterboard walls.

These choices were also dictated by the structural need to limit the new loads weighing on the historic building below.

The design of the crowning volumes, which remain hidden from the front on the main street, respecting the integrity of the original façade, recalls the shape of Parisian roofs but with a modern look in the use of materials.
