Structural feasibility study for the redevelopment of a historic building

Villa San Girolamo, from the 14th century, is an important historical and spiritual heritage. It was the seat of the Girolamo hermits and was expanded by the blessed Carlo dei Conti Guidi and, later, by Cosimo de' Medici, who promoted the construction of a church in the Michelucci style.

In the 17th century, elements such as the church loggia and the library were added. It then passed to the De Bardi and Ricasoli families, until it became the headquarters of the Society of Jesus in the 19th century, which further modified it. Finally, it was managed by the Piccola Compagnia di Maria as a nursing home until the early 1900s.

A feasibility study was conducted to explore the potential for redevelopment of the complex. The study hypothesized a structural adjustment and modification of the internal layout to adapt the spaces to a new use as a luxury hotel with spa. This transformation would include the possible creation of a new built area, designed in harmony with the existing historical structures.
