Structural design for seismic adaptation

Headquarters of the Revenue Agency, Provincial Directorate of Venice, a complex consisting of 6 buildings interconnected by a basement and walkways connecting the above-ground floors, for a total surface area of 32,500 m2.

The load-bearing structures are built on pile foundations, from which pillars, walls and horizontal elements in normal and pre-stressed reinforced concrete rise, with prefabricated elements and metal carpentry.

The seismic vulnerability investigations and characterization tests conducted allowed us to analyze the dynamic behavior of the structures and evaluate their resistance, providing essential information for the subsequent design phases.

The seismic retrofitting interventions focused on the closure of seismic joints with shock transmitter (STU) devices and on the use of FRCM composite materials for the reinforcement of the structures as well as the introduction of metal carpentry bracing.
